Community Action Awards 2014

The annual celebration of the efforts and impact of voluntary and community activity on the Island, the Isle of Wight Community Action Awards, is here again.

communityactionawards2014Supported by the Isle of Wight County Press and a range of category sponsors, the awards provides an opportunity for any voluntary and community group to receive recognition and potentially some cash prizes for their good work in the past 12 months.

The Chair of Judges, Patricia Partridge, Deputy Lieutenant for the Isle of Wight, reflected, ‘It really is incredible what’s going on within communities across the Island, the sheer level of commitment and good will never ceases to amaze me.’

The awards also often provide a springboard for organisations to apply for the Queens Award for Voluntary Service, the highest national accolade, a group can get, with Shanklin Theatre Trust and the Footprint Trust being two recent examples.

The extended number of categories this year are: Older Persons, Children and Young People, Environment, Arts and Heritage, Sport, Village Halls and Community Buildings, Community and  Healthy Lives.
