The Volunteer Centre is launching a new gardening project at Riverside, starting on Friday 13th October 12-2pm.
Sign up as a volunteer gardener for a range of options on how to be involved.
You do not need to be an experienced gardener, but a willingness to get your hands dirty and work collaboratively is expected.
Join us for a regular weekly group session, where we will work together to weed and redesign the beds around the Riverside Centre. Starting on 13th October these will run from 12-2pm, but you are welcome to stay for however long suits you.
Once a month we will have a social event with food and perhaps a speaker or two.
In between sessions, you are invited to “adopt a bed” or part of a bed and work on it in your own time.
The beds will be themed and we will be looking for individuals and organisations to sponsor a bed.
Ideas for themes so far are:
- Coastal plants
- Culinary herbs
- Woodland area
- Butterfly bed
- Tactile plants
- Succulents
In the long term, we are also planning to develop a wellbeing garden with views of the River Medina, benches or hammocks and somewhere to connect with others.
If you are interested in being involved, please contact Sandy Ciccognani: volunteer@actioniw.org.uk
