The Isle of Wight Council Countryside Estate An invitation for Expressions of Interest from not for profit organisations

Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified organisations to take over the Isle of Wight Council’s Countryside Estate (the sites).

The sites include approximately 170 hectares of land spread over about twenty locations throughout the Island. These include protected areas as well as unprotected areas, some of great wildlife and landscape value, some of great amenity value and in many cases both. They tend to be areas of particular local importance and are well-loved by the communities around them, but some areas are included that are not widely known or used.

The service in the next few years will come under increasing pressure to reduce its outgoings. The Isle of Wight Council’s objectives for the sites are and will remain to ensure their long term sustainability and integrity, to ensure continued open public access, and to conserve and enhance their wildlife and landscape.

Expressions of interest are therefore invited from organisations that believe they can take on the running of these sites and deliver these objectives. The council is particularly looking for a partner that will develop the service beyond its current levels, offering new opportunities for the public.

The council has prepared an invitation to submit an expression of interest in these sites. Please visit http://www.iwight.com/prospectus to download the invitation and to find out more about the sites involved, the objectives that the council is pursuing, and how to make an expression of interest.

The closing date for submitting a completed expression of interest is 6th March 2015
