The Big Help Out
The Big Help Out is a national volunteering campaign, taking place over King Charles III coronation bank holiday weekend. Across the UK, people are being encouraged to lend a hand in their local area by volunteering on Monday 8 May 2023.
These are the activities that are happening on the Isle of Wight for the Big Help Out

Monday May 8th
Scouts
Volunteers from the Godshill & Rookley Scout Group will be at their headquarters in May Close, Godshill, PO38 3HB, from 1pm to 4pm on 8 May to welcome visitors and invite them to join in the fun as volunteers themselves. This can range from becoming leaders with the Beaver, Cub or Scout sections, for young people aged 6 to 14, to joining the committee or being able to offer specialist skills to assist the group in its wide range of activities, including admin support, grant applications or hall and grounds maintenance.

Wednesday May 10th
IW Volunteer Centre Big Help Out Social at Riverside 5.15pm – 7.45pm
Come and hear short talks and chat to other volunteers and staff about volunteering opportunities that you can do outside office hours.
Organisations taking part include: IW Volunteer Centre, IOW University for Free Time, IW Steam Railway, Barnardos, Cruse Bereavement support, Natural Enterprise, Wight Aviation Museum, Citizens Advice, Sight For Wight, Donkey Sanctuary, Cats Protection, Embracing Age, Sandown Carnival and Girlguiding.
