Youth Development – Lead Worker Post

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT- LEAD WORKER – Bay area, Isle of Wight

 Are you passionate and interested in Youth Work, Sport & Art for Development, Safer Communities/Youth Justice and Education?

 Part time role – 25 hours per week (FT equivalent salary, £25,000) based on experience and qualifications.

 Objective of Post

To develop and deliver street-based and facility-based activities including sports and arts that will be delivered in the communities of Sandown, Lake and Shanklin and also deliver sessions to meet the personal and social development needs of young people, primarily aged 10-18 years, living on the Isle of Wight.

It is essential that you work regular evenings and be available during school holidays, plus an occasional weekend.

Some duties will include:

• To plan, organise, and deliver effectively, a range of personal development and resilience programmes that improve outcomes for young people.

This will include Crime and ASB, Informal Education, Youth Voice and Youth Participation and Personal Development and informal and formal training.

• To plan and deliver a range of positive activities with a focus on Sport for Development and arts and cultural activity
• To work at ‘grass roots’ level, on the streets, in parks and local facilities during evenings and holidays periods, providing open & accessible activities and detached youth work and outreach sessions to local children & young people.
• Develop relationships and work in partnership with schools, Police, Local Authority, sports and arts-based organisations and other statutory and voluntary sector partners.
• To maintain accurate records for monitoring and reporting purposes including verbal and written information.
• Undertake safeguarding responsibilities.
