An Island Volunteer Fair is being planned for  Sunday 13th September 2026

Community Action Isle of Wight’s Volunteer Centre has announced that the next Island Volunteer Fair, taking place on Sunday 13 September, 11am–3pm at the Riverside Centre, Newport, will be the final large-scale volunteer fair of its kind.

Due to local funding for the Volunteer Centre not being continued beyond September, this event will mark the last opportunity for local residents to meet a wide range of organisations all under one roof in this format.

The fair will bring together more than 50 charities, community groups and public services, offering visitors a unique chance to explore volunteering opportunities, ask questions and make connections in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Entry is free, and there is no commitment required. People can simply drop in, stay for as long as they like, and speak directly to staff and volunteers about the many different ways to get involved.

Why volunteering matters

Volunteering offers a wide range of benefits, not only for the community but also for the individual. It can:

help build confidence and skills, supporting career progression and employability

improve health and wellbeing, giving a sense of purpose and routine

provide opportunities to meet new people, reducing loneliness and isolation

open doors to new experiences and interests

Whether someone has a few hours to spare or is looking for something more regular, there will be opportunities to suit all interests and availability.

A final chance to connect

The Island Volunteer Fair has long been a key event in the Island’s community calendar, helping thousands of people find ways to give back while supporting local organisations to recruit volunteers and raise awareness.

With this being the last event of this scale, Community Action Isle of Wight is encouraging residents to make the most of this opportunity and come along to discover what’s available.

Call for organisations – book now

Local charities, community groups and organisations are also encouraged to book a stall as soon as possible.

With strong interest already, spaces are expected to fill quickly. Organisations are advised that it is better to book a place and cancel later if needed, rather than delay and risk missing out.

There is no charge to book at this stage, with stall fees not payable until September.
