The Riverside Centre

The Riverside Centre is a thriving community venue located next to Newport Harbour in the centre of the Isle of Wight. It is a place of integration in both ethos and practice and is used by a diverse group of people and organisations from morning till evening, six days a week. Our purpose is to generate revenue through our commercial activities, to fund the charitable work of Community Action Isle of Wight

Meeting Rooms, Conference Hall and Training Facilities

We have function rooms of varying size that can accommodate up to 300 people. We have the largest function room available to hire in Newport.
Why not hire one of our training rooms for a meeting, seminar or training session? Free WiFi access is also available.

Fully Licensed Bar

Our Trafalgar Room and Little London are both serviced by a fully licensed bar, stocking draught and bottled beers and lager, wines, ciders, spirits and soft drinks. The bar is opened as standard for Saturday bookings and can be requested at the time of booking otherwise.

Catering

Our in-house catering offers a choice of options from simple snacks and party food, to hot and cold buffets, grazing tables, and even late-night snacks. For shorter meetings, smaller groups or if you’re just uncertain about numbers, we have a self-serve coffee machine in reception, which we operate with an honesty box. Cold drinks, fruit, snacks and confectionary are also available from our ‘Tuck Trolley’ in reception.

Car Parking

Parking at The Riverside Centre is free for visitors. We have a limited number of spaces available across the upper and lower car parks, these are available on a first come first served basis. To qualify for free parking, all visitors must enter their vehicle registration on the touch pad in reception when they arrive, including vehicles with a blue badge using the disabled bays.

The Riverside Centre is a fully accessible, single storey building, with gender neutral toilets in accordance with the Changing Places campaign. The centre also has an accessible shower, handrails, priority parking and our PA systems are fitted with an induction-loop. Ability dogs are welcome too, but we ask you to let us know in advance before your visit.

We embrace diversity through our policies and practice of integration, inclusivity & accessibility, and are proud to support the Isle of Wight Council’s No Barriers employment scheme and are registered Disability Confident employers.

We operate a no smoking on site policy between the hours of 9am and 4pm.

Newport Quay

Newport Quay has a rich history. It was a thriving harbour, crucial for the import of goods to the Island prior to the arrival of the train and road imports. Evidence of its history is still evident in the form of its buildings and architecture.

The old Porter Store and Rope Store now house the Quay Arts Centre.

The Red Squirrel Trail runs from Sandown to Cowes, via Newport and can be joined on the opposite side of the harbour from the Riverside. This family friendly trail has been tailored for cyclists who prefer car-free cycling on mainly flat, gentle routes. Much of this trail runs along purpose-made tracks along the Isle of Wight’s disused railway lines, ensuring a leisurely cycle through the Island’s countryside.
