YOUTH DEVELOPMENT- Coordinator/Lead Worker – Bay Youth Project (BYP), Isle of Wight
Are you passionate and interested in Youth Work, Sport & Art for Development, Safer Communities/Youth Justice, and Education?
Part time role – 18 hours per week, negotiable (FT equivalent salary, £24,000) based on experience and qualifications.
Objective of Post
To oversee a successful multi-tiered youth project in the Bay area, including sports and arts that will be delivered in the communities of Sandown, Lake and Shanklin that meet the personal and social development needs of young people, primarily aged 10-18 years.
It is essential that you work some evenings and be available during school holidays, plus an occasional weekend.
Some duties will include:
- To plan and deliver a range of positive activities with a focus on sport for development and arts and cultural activity.
- Oversee the health and safety requirement to ensure all sessions are safe and fun.
- Working alongside CAIW Youth Intervention & Development Officer to manage a small team of paid workers/coaches, volunteers, and University placements.
- To plan, organise, and deliver effectively, a range of personal development and resilience programmes that improve outcomes for young people.
This will include informal and formal education, youth voice, and personal and social development opportunities.
- To work at ‘grass roots’ level, on the streets, in parks and local facilities during evenings and holidays periods, providing open & accessible activities and detached youth work and outreach sessions to local children & young people.
- Develop relationships and work in partnership with schools, Police, Local Authority, sports and arts-based organisations and other statutory and voluntary sector partners.
- To maintain accurate records for monitoring and reporting purposes including verbal and written information.
- Undertake safeguarding responsibilities.
