Young People and their Roots – Up to £50 000 available to run heritage projects
The Heritage Lottery Fund’s Young Roots Programme is coming to the Isle of Wight in September.
Are you interested in helping young people to explore their heritage, from green spaces, museums, and historic sites to language, local memories and youth culture?
Come and find out how you can help and inspire young people aged 11-25yrs to learn about and get involved in their heritage on the Isle of Wight.
The Heritage Lottery Fund wants to give young people the chance to plan and deliver their own heritage projects, supported along the way by heritage and youth organisations working together. Projects celebrate the young people’s achievements and share what they’re learning with the wider community.
Grants are available of £10,000-£50,000
Bring your ideas for any of the following and discuss them with the funders:
- Sustaining and transforming the IOW’s Heritage, rescuing buildings or places from decay.
- Inspiring young people to learn and get involved with heritage: helping people in fulfilling volunteer roles and developing skills, and creating opportunities for an enjoyable day out.
- Re-energising neglected areas, creating vibrant places to live and work, fostering a real sense of community and bringing in new visitors, and investment in the form of tourism
A Funding Briefing and Networking Session has been organised by South East Museum Development Programme and will be held on:
Thursday, 17 September 2015 from 13:45 to 16:45
