Community Libraries

The community libraries at Bembridge and Brighstone are provided in partnership with volunteers from the local villages the Isle of Wight Council and Community Action IW. At each library there is a voluntary steering committee that takes care of the day to day operation of the library and the fundraising activities to secure the library’s ongoing financial viability. The Isle of Wight Council provide the premises, the books, regular stock rotation and specialist support and advice. Community Action IW has legal responsibility for the service and provides support to the steering committee.

Bembridge Community Library is run in partnership with volunteers, the Isle of Wight Council and Community Action IW.

The library has almost 40 volunteers who have an informal management group who manage the day to day management of library and fundraise to meet running costs.
